On Sunday I went to the Saatchi Gallery on Kings Road with Sue. We started with lunch at Mess where I had gazpacho and an avocado and fennel salad surrounded by art – perfect. Then we saw Abstract America – all big paintings and wonderful sculpture.
My standouts were Kristin Baker’s shiny acrylics on PVC, Matt Johnson’s origami tarpaulin grand piano and Guerra de la Paz’s huge pile of reused clothes on legs. I also loved Sterling Ruby’s giant body organ like sculpture and bold neon graffiti painting. Chef’s Kiss!
