Space

space_oddities_cover‘Space Oddities Vol. 2’ is a collection of obscure gems selected by Alexis Le-Tan and Jess. Where the first ‘Space Oddities’ was like an ocean of electronica and disco this one’s more like the soundtrack to rediscovering yourself in the desert.

It all starts with ‘Strange Form’ (J.P. Decerf, G. Zajd & C. Betsy) which is as mysterious as the mask on the front, and then winds through laid back – ‘Leaving My Place’ (same as above) – and folky – ‘Sunshine In My Heart’ (L. Vanay) – to some joyous woo woos on ‘Sun Adoration’ (Y. Tregger), more summery sounds with the synths of ‘Gates Of Pop Empire’ (J.P. Decerf) and then the Arabian sounding bleeps of ‘Les Pingouins S’Amusent’ (D. Guiot). A summer joy – all I need is the holiday to listen to it on. There’s more at http://www.myspace.com/myspaceoddities and it’s bound to be celebrated by Aneet on Days Are Numbers (www.daysarenumbers.net) too, if not already. Chef’s Kiss!

  1. Tom – your prose is genuinely astounding, you really capture the spirit of this haunting album. Chef’s Kiss indeed. 10 out of 10.
