Skylon

Skylon at the Royal Festival Hall

One evening when we were heading over to Shad Thames we stopped en route at Skylon for a quick drink.

On the first floor of the Royal Festival Hall on the South Bank, we sat up front by the soaring windows and got a great view. We ordered wine and were served at our cocktail table as we perched on seats that hark back to the glory days of the Festival of Britain.

Named after the temporary suspended structure that was the centre piece of the Festival, Skylon has a timeless modernist feel, and it’s a great London spot to watch the sun go down with a drink – a habit worth starting. Chef’s Kiss!
