When the sun is shining Chef loves an alfresco drink, so when the recent heatwave hit, The Colton Arms near the Queens Club was a natural choice. Famous for its real pub charm, replete with repurposed carved benches, gleaming brasses and a lovely back garden, it’s a smashing hideaway for a summer drink.
Underneath a canopy of sprawling roses (planted over 40 years ago) we drank wine and beer, and enjoyed the seclusion the walled yard offers – a little corner of London surrounded by flowers and shrubs. John, the landlord, is a true host taking pride in making his guests at home – and at times if you’re lucky, Brucie the dog makes an appearance, ready to entertain those supping on last orders. For an homage have a look at Sequin Sue’s prose – it’s a West London gem. Chef’s Kiss!
