On a hot sunny day what could be better than looking out over London. For a Friday night treat, me and Sue went to Galvin at Windows bar on the 28th floor of the Hilton on Park Lane. Sue had Cool as Cucumber, a citrus and cucumber cocktail with vodka, and I had a Galvin Mary, a long fiery tomato and chilli concoction.
We sat on white chairs and picked at wasabi nuts while we gazed out at the buildings reflecting the sun. Then, on to Nobu for dinner. With a lovely fruity pinot gris, we started with edamame beans before our tomato ceviche arrived – a dance of red, yellow and firm green tomatoes in a spiced dressing. Next Sue had tuna tartar with caviar, and I had the avocado version – both of which arrived in a little bowl of wasabi soy, on a bed of ice – perfect. For mains we shared a fresh spinach salad and Sue went for salmon skewers while I had grilled asparagus in a rich chilli sauce. The salmon was flaky and fiery while the asparagus spears were thick and tender. Full up, we drank espressos then went back onto Park Lane to admire the Lamborghinis parked up on the road.
