After deciding to give the car a run out the other day, Chef and Sue made for Herne Hill. Parked up, we wandered through Brockwell Park, took in the villagey high street and then settled on The Lido Cafe at the famous Brockwell Lido for lunch.
Sitting outside in the feint September sun we shuddered as a couple of brave bathers took to the water, before ordering salads and some brown bread with oil. We shared a lovely french bean and rocket mixture with mustard dressing, and a nutty quinoa and mozzarella plate – both fresh and tasty. Enjoying a good coffee, we mused on the vintage summer holiday feel of the art deco lido – an unusual delight. A night visit is in order. Chef’s Kiss!
