After becoming Mr and Mrs, Chef and Sue went on a little tour of France and Italy by train. Here are some Paris favourites from the trip.
First of all Hotel de l’Abbaye in Saint Germain, where we stayed in a room in the roof with views onto the courtyard garden below. Breakfast and champagne (not at the same time) were taken in the plush ground floor salon – intimate and refined – and service was top notch. Along the street is Cafe Cassette with a Jacques Tati inspired silhouette repeated across the walls, the curtains and the lamps – there we ate burgers, salad and great frites in the relaxed dining room – modern and fun.
An old favourite from a prior visit is L’Avenue – a buzzy, polished restaurant in the golden triangle. Fantastic food, and in the covered terrace we could glimpse the Eiffel sparkling in the distance on the hour – a nice setting. Last of all, after wandering around the beautiful Jardin de Luxembourg, we lunched at Restaurant du Luxembourg on cheese, a poached egg with aubergine puree, and some lovely rosé. Chef’s Kiss!
